Let’s Talk About Legend of Korra’s “The Terror Within”

image

The switch over to digital releases means we only got one episode of The Legend of Korra tonight… but what an episode! If auto-publishing magic is up to snuff, you should be able to find my review of “The Terror Within” over at Screencrush.

But what did you gals and guys think? Throw down your reactions/insight/theories in the comments or reblogs. We’ll be back with a new episode Sunday!

DIGITAL DISTRO DEETS! - BOOKMARK THIS - Legend of Korra: Book 3

Official word has come down: the first FIVE Korra Episodes (through “The Metal Clan”) are streaming at this link on Nick.com right now.

This Saturday the first EIGHT Korra episodes (through “The Terror Within”) will be streaming, presumably at that link. That is the new link. Bookmark it.

After that, it’s a new episode every FRIDAY starting with “The Stakeout” going up on August 1st.

Turns out Emmy Voters Don’t Watch Korra

Since The Legend of Korra is on in primetime, Book 2 was eligible for two Emmy Awards: Animated Program and Character Voice-Over Performance. Unfortunately, the show didn’t garner any nominations — which makes you wonder if anyone voting actually watches The Legend of Korra (short answer: probably not). Archer, Bob’s Burgers, Futurama, South Park, and Nick’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are fine shows. Great shows (I’m not the biggest fan of this current incarnation of TMNT). But animation means two things to the common voter: A half hour comedy like The Simpsons or a kid’s show. TMNT brand awareness probably has something to do with its inclusion. Legend of Korra isn’t an easy show to label or describe with one-line. It’s too hard to vote for.

As for the voice-over noms… c’mon Television Academy! Get it together! Janet Varney! J.K. Simmons! Steven Yeun as Wan! Seth MacFarlane, Seth Green, and Harry Shearer do fine jobs on their respective shows, but they’re examples of voters choosing with a rubber stamp. Veterans. Beyond the name talent of Korra, there are a hundred voiceover artists more deserving of these spots (though many of them would fall into the Daytime Emmy pool). Show’em some love, Academy.

Who would you hand out Emmys to this year? Who gave the best Korra performance in Book 2? What’s the best episode writing and/or directing wise? We might has well hold our own ceremony right here.

KORRA SCHEDULE REVEALED.
Korra will air 2 episodes a week from 7/11-8/8.
Not the best news, broadcast wise, this season might be over before people know it’s happening.
Good news if you’re going to San DiegoComic Con as my prediction they might just show the rest of the season (at the time of Con, only 4 episodes will remain).
For the most part though, this announcement originating as a response from the Nick Twitter doesn’t bode well.
As of this morning, Book 3 is still not available on my preferred iTunes store.
